'OV-chipkaart' pricing

The 'OV-chipkaart' (public transport chip card) is a new electronic method of payment for the public transport system in The Netherlands. The 'OV-chipkaart' is a plastic card with the size of a bank card and can be loaded with credit in euros or a travel product such as a single or season ticket.

Currently you still can travel almost every where with the 'strippenkaart', but there are excepsions. OV-chipkaart is the only valid payment method in:

Amsterdam metro (company 'GVB')
Rotterdam region
